MAC Bao Bao Wan Collection (Forbidden Sunrise, Burmese Kiss and Summer Opal)

I haven't reviewed a MAC collection in a while, mainly because their new collections sells so fast that I barely have time to test the products before everything is sold out! I don't see the point of talking about something that isn't available anymore, but the Bao Bao Wan collection was too pretty to pass up!

Matte Lipsticks in Forbidden Sunrise and Burmese Kiss ($21 CAD for 3g)
Both shades are beautiful colors for summer, they will look amazing with a tan! They are matte but less matte than a Retro Matte. They tend to cling to dry areas, especially Forbidden Sunrise which can also look patchy. This one looks much better over a primer such as MAC Prep + Prime Lip, and I highly suggest that you exfoliate your lips prior to the application.

The formula is a bit finicky, but I really love the shades!

Forbidden Sunrise is darker than MAC Sounds Like Noise, but it's the same kind of orange with strong yellow undertones. Illamasqua Exotic is a tad more pink, NYX Indie Flick is much more red and darker. Maybelline Electric Orange is similar but has a glossy finish and is less opaque.

Burmese Kiss is the color you would get if MAC Ablaze and MAC Party Parrot had a baby!

Bite Beauty Crush is darker and has a glossy finish, MAC Ablaze is a tad lighter and more warm toned, MAC Party Parrot is a tad darker and more pink, Anastasia Sweet Talker is a tad more pink and much more matte.

Summer Opal Beauty Powder ($33 CAD for 11.19g)
I've always loved MAC's Beauty Powders because they usually have a beautiful glowy finish, not glittery at all. Summer Opal is a very light peachy pink with golden sparkles, it looks more sparkly in the pan than all the other beauty powders I own. The finish is similar on the skin but still a bit more sparkly than usual. The texture isn't as buttery smooth either and it can look a bit more powdery on darker skin tones.

It's a very pretty powder but it's not a must have in my collection because I already own other similar shades with a slightly more buttery smooth texture!

Play It Proper is much lighter and cool toned, Pearl Sunshine is darker and more peachy pink, Sunsparked Pearl is slightly lighter and less peachy pink, Shell Pearl is darker.

  1. Funny I came across this just now. I just got my hands on Ablaze. I put it on and I was like... this looks scarily similar to the Burmese Kiss shade I have. So I googled it and your site popped up! They're so stinking close in tone!
