Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation

A few days ago I reviewed the new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD liquid foundation, but did you know that they came out with a stick formula too? Formulated with hyaluronic spheres and amino acid coated pigments, this foundation is ideal for touch-ups and contouring!

This foundation stick gives medium but buildable coverage, it provides a bit more coverage than the liquid formula with one layer but it looks less natural than the liquid if I try to apply a second layer. So I prefer the liquid formula as my everyday foundation and use the stick for quick touch-ups.

I heard it's similar to Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation but I don't think they are comparable. They both come in a stick formula but Ultra HD is creamier and thicker, it provides more coverage too.

I own the shade Y315 Sand which is a bit lighter than a NC30 and the undertones are a bit more beige than a typical NC shade (less yellow). UPDATE : Click here to see swatches of the 5 new shades!

As you can see on these photos, the same shade in the stick formula is lighter (and more pink) when swatched heavily on the skin but it gets darker when you blend it.

It's still a bit lighter than the same shade in the liquid formula, if you look closely you can see that it looks a bit powdery on my skin. It can be the formula or the color simply doesn't match me perfectly, I don't know.

This is such a great product to keep in my purse! I use it all the time to do quick touch-ups : to cover redness or dark circles that peek through the concealer at the end of the day.

I like it because it's easy to use and it doesn't look super cakey even if I apply it over my makeup. Unlike liquid foundation, it won't spill inside my handbag and it doesn't need to be set with a powder if you use it for touch-ups.

  1. This looks awesome! I looooove a good stick formula I used maybelline fit me stick foundation but it gives me the light to full coverage i need with out it looking like I put any on. I may need to try this out as I do notice with maybellines stick foundation its easy to rub off ahhh but Its so cheap haha! Great review I hope I can get this soon so that I can find my holy grail stick foundation as I'm just not a liquid fan haha!

    1. The MUFE stick has better staying power than the Maybelline stick! :)

  2. Good review. I haven't actually tried stick foundations yet. But this sure is handy. :)

  3. Do you think this is good for combination to oily skin?

    1. My skin is very oily and I like it, it has great staying power on me but you do want to set it with some powder. It's a thick and creamy foundation and it doesn't have any mattifying properties, but it doesn't feel super greasy either. Does that make sense?

  4. If you were to repurchase, would you still get 315 or have you found a match better suited since thus post? I'm really struggling to know what shade to buy. There are no outlets close to me so I can only purchase online:( I would say my skin looks similar to yours. I have only realised lately that I think with a slight pink undertone as apposed to yellow (tho I do look olive skinned!) HELP!

    1. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to see the other shades yet! Y325 seems to be darker and more yellow, but I'm afraid it might be too dark. Just to be safe I would probably choose Y315 again.
