Clarins Face Contouring Palette

It seems like the contouring trend hasn't faded yet, makeup brands keep coming out with new palettes! For Spring 2017, Clarins jumps on the bandwagon and launches its first contouring palette. But rather than sculpting and highlighting your face to the extreme, Clarins is doing it the soft way! (and we like that)

Let's not beat around the bush : I had high hopes for this palette, I really did. But sadly, two out of the three colors didn't work out for me.

The contour powder is very peachy on me, even as a bronzer it's too warm-toned for my pale winter skin. But I'm very picky when it comes to bronzing powders, just the slightest hint of peach undertones and I turn into an Oompa-Loompa! I like the formula and the matte finish, but that's about it.

The highlighter is pretty much matte (which can be great to brighten up the skin) but it didn't really do anything. On me, it looks like a sheer pressed powder! This color isn't light enough to highlight my complexion.

The blush is nice though, a beautiful dusty pink with a satin finish!

Overall, the palette is pretty but if you are looking for a great cool-toned contouring powder, this isn't it. I would say that this palette will look best on medium skin tones.

Oh by the way, it comes with a tiny bevelled brush. Super cute! It's a great brush for precise contouring (especially the nose and chin).

  1. I'm actually loving this palette, I guess it depends on your skin tone.

  2. This looks like a great contouring kit. I'm so tired of the harsh Kardashian style contouring. Thank goodness some companies are creating products for us less glam folk :)

    1. Me too!! It's great for photos, but it looks weird in real life.

  3. The blush is beautiful, but I can definitely see that the bronzer is way too warm and could almost work as a blush on medium skin. The highlight colour looks like it would work really well on my skin tone to brighten, but I love my KVD yellow shade so I don't think I'll be purchasing any palettes like these. But if Clarins doesn't already sell that same brush separately they really should!

  4. I've been absolutely loving cream products this winter, and I think this would fit perfectly into my collection. Although I do wish the highlighter was a bit brighter, and it's annoying that the bronzer is too peachy.

    1. Thanks! It's different than other palettes, the highlight is completely matte and the contour powder has warm undertones.
