In the spotlight : Sothys Purity Skincare Range

I'm always on the lookout for the best products to manage my oily skin and fight acne, the products I usually use are good but sometimes (especially during winter) it can dry out my skin. I was curious to try the Sothys Purity line because I've never found a good product for my skin type that doesn't contain salicylic acid, a very effective ingredient to treat acne, but not so gentle on the skin. The key active ingredient in the cleansing milk, lotion and serum is Iris Extract, which is known for its purifying and astringent properties.

Sothys Purity Cleansing Milk  ($39.95 for 200ml)
I was surprised to love this cleansing milk, I usually prefer foaming cleansers! My skin feels so clean and soft, it doesn't dry it out but it's not too heavy or moisturizing either. I like to rub it on my skin, add some water, massage a bit longer, and then rinse it off. You can also use it with cotton pads if you prefer.

I think that it really helped my oily skin since it doesn't strip it from its natural oils, but it's hard to tell if my skin is less oily because of this cleansing milk or the others products.

Ingredients : Aqua (Water), Ethylhexyl stearate, Isopropyl palmitate, Peg-7 glyceryl cocoate, Glycerin, Cetearyl alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol, Sodium benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium hydroxide, Chlorhexidine digluconate, Propylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, Iris florentina root extract, potassium sorbate, Xanthan gum.

Sothys Purity Lotion ($39.95 for 200ml)
I use it like a toner, it really help in removing any remnant traces of makeup and dirt that the cleansing milk might not have removed. However, I didn't like the texture at all. It feels very sticky and it takes a long time to sink into the skin.

I really liked the fact that they added kaolin in the formula (you need to shake the bottle everytime you use it though) but my skin doesn't feel clean when I use it.

Ingredients : Aqua (Water), Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Polymethyl methacrylate, Kaolin, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Parfum (Fragrance), PPG-26-buteth-26, Sorbic acid, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Iris florentina root extract, CI 42090 (Blue 1).

Sothys Purifying Serum ($99.50 for 30ml)
This serum regulate the production of sebum, purifies and has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. I know this is pricey but it really helped to clear up my acne! I stopped using it and 1 week later, I noticed some tiny breakouts here and there, which cleared quite fast when I started using it again. So I believe this is the key product in this skincare regimen to prevent future acne breakouts!

I started by using it twice a day only on the T-zone (which is where I usually break out), but I found out that once a day is enough to take care of my acne problem. You can also apply it only on the imperfections. This is the only product I've found that help to treat my acne without irritating or drying out my skin!

Ingredients : Aqua (Water), Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Coceth-10, Iris Florentina Root Extract, Glycyrrhizic Acid, Tromethamine, Zinc PCA, Retinyl Palmitate, Butylparaben, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Allantion, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, EDTA.

Sothys Hydra-Matt Fluid ($61.50 for 50ml)
This is a good lightweight cream for oily skin, the texture isn't too rich and it really helps to moisturize my oily, yet deshydrated skin. It helps to regulate the production of sebum, but it wasn't the best oil control fluid I have tried.

I like it, but I'm not sure if I would buy it because it's a bit pricey for what it does and I would rather buy the Purifying Serum, which helps to regulate the production of sebum too.

Ingredients : Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Propylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Boron Nitride, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Protein, Chlorphenesin, Disodium Phosphate, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Pyridoxine HCL, Niacinamide, Sorbic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Tetrasodium EDTA, Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, Chlorhexidine Digluconate, Laureth-7, Allantoin, Citric Acid, Threonine, Potassium Sorbate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Benzyl Salicylate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Biotin, Methylisothiazolinone, CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 42053 (Green 3)

Overall, I really liked the Purity Cleansing Milk and the Purifying Serum! The serum is awesome, I wish it wasn't so pricey but yes, I would buy it again. I've always used salicylic acid cleansers to get rid of my acne but these can be very drying (especially during winter), so it's really nice to have nice skin without the use of harsh ingredients. I suggest that you wait for a sale (Essentialdayspa.com have sales quite often), or try a travel size set because everyone's skin can reacts differently.
