The Rodial The Icons Collection palette contains two contouring powders : Light and Medium. The shade Light is a taupe brown with a matte finish, and it's such a perfect color! I already have the Instaglam Deluxe Compact Contouring Powder #03 (full review here), and both colors are very similar on me. The formula feels different, but it's not necessarily a bad thing! I find that the original formula is easier to blend, while the contouring powders in this palette are more pigmented and the texture is very smooth. Both formulas are great though!
The other shade, Medium, is a warm brown with a matte finish. To me, this color is too warm to be a contour powder, but you can always swirl your brush in both shades if the 'Light' contour powder is too grey for your complexion.
Another product that I already own is the bronzer #02 (full review here), a pinky warm brown with a matte finish. The color is almost identical on me, but I noticed the same difference in texture than with the contouring powders. I like both, but now I'm wondering if the full size powders have been reformulated?
I love the blush too, Soho is a beautiful peachy coral with a luminous finish! It's nicely pigmented (but not too much!) and doesn't look patchy on the skin. The finish isn't too shimmery either, which I like best.
This palette contains two highlighters as well. Both are beautiful and last all day on me!
The shade 06 is a off-white with a shimmery finish, while the color 07 is a gold with a shimmery finish.
The highlighter 07 is a bit chunky in comparison to the shade 06, but it doesn't look glittery on my cheeks. I don't like this color when my skin is very pale (too yellow and dark, I prefer 06 on fair skin), but it's beautiful on medium to tan skin tones!
A contouring palette wouldn't be complete without a banana powder, am I right? The Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana Powder is a light banana yellow with a satin finish. I love how pale and soft this yellow is, some banana powders are very yellow and look strange on pale skin. This one can be used on fair skin, but I find that the brightening effect is much more noticeable on medium skin tones (or darker).
Last but not least, the Instaglam Compact Deluxe Translucent HD Powder. This powder has a satin matte finish and is said to help blur imperfections and absorb shine. I love the finely-milled texture, and the fact that it doesn't look powdery on the skin. I didn't find it particularly mattifying (my skin is very oily), but it's a good setting powder for the under eye area and I think it's a nice addition to this palette!
The Rodial The Icons Collection Palette retails for $95 CAD for 20g (8 x 2.5g) and is available at Niche Beauty, rodial.co.uk, Space NK and Harvey Nichols.
