Revlon Colorstay Foundation (Combination/Oily)

Have you heard? Revlon's Colorstay foundation now comes with a pump and SPF protection! Available in two formulas (one for combination/oily skin and the other for normal/dry skin), this oil-free foundation is said to be comfortable on the skin and last up to 24 hours. Today, I'm reviewing the version for oily skin, which is available in 22 shades and provides an SPF of 15.

Ok so I had a strange experience with this foundation and I think it's worth sharing it with you. The first time I used this product, the formula was extremely oily and thin. The finish was very dewy, and the coverage was almost non-existent. This foundation is supposed to provide full coverage and a matte finish, so I was very confused!

But I tried it again the day after, and it felt like a completely different foundation! The formula is thicker now, less oily and the coverage is so much better.

I think the silicones separate a bit in the bottle and get stuck in the pump. I had this issue with ALL the shades, even if I shook each bottle vigorously before use. It only happens when I use a new bottle for the first time, so nothing too serious but I thought it was important enough to let you know.

The coverage is medium, but buildable to medium-full. However, I prefer how it looks on me when I only apply a thin layer with a damp Beautyblender, and only apply concealer where I need it. I find that it can look quite cakey if I apply a second layer to achieve full coverage, it accentuates dry skin a bit more and it feels heavier on the skin.

Less is more with this foundation, if you prefer a second skin effect!

The Revlon Colorstay foundation has a semi-matte finish and stays matte for a really long time, I only need to powder my face after 4 hours! My skin is very oily and usually, my t-zone is already shiny by the 2 hours mark!

The staying power is incredible! It doesn't separate or settles into my fine lines, it wears well for more than 12 hours on me. But I always double cleanse when I wear this foundation, otherwise I still have foundation left on my skin.

This is such a good foundation for oily skin, it controls shine beautifully and lasts all day on me!

The only thing I would change is the fragrance, it doesn't smell bad but I wish it wasn't so strong.

    1. I wish I could help you, but they only sent me these shades and none of them is similar to NC25.
