I tried a few NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in the past years (I used to wear Damned all the time!) so I already knew I would love them!

But they have a matte finish, and like most matte lipsticks they can feel a bit drying after a few hours. I always use a lip primer (I love MAC's Prep + Prime Lip) when I wear these lip pencils, it keeps my lips hydrated for hours and doesn't change the matte finish!

Left to right : Vicious, Spike, Bondage and Chaos.

The shades Vicious, Bondage and Spike have a creamy consistency, while Chaos is a bit thicker (slightly more drying) but it glides effortlessly on my lips without tugging. The formula feels creamy and slightly powdery.

All these colors apply evenly, they don't look patchy or settle into lip lines. They aren't completely opaque in one swipe, but the color payoff is top notch!

The two vampy shades (Chaos, Spike) last 5 hours on me, while Vicious and Bondage wear well for about 3 hours.
