Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate (New formula)

Clarins' Double Serum just got a facelift with a new formula and packaging! Enriched with a cocktail of 21 plant extracts, the new formula is said to hydrate the skin, reduce wrinkles, bring radiance to the skin, tighten pores and restore skin elasticity.

The new packaging is brilliant! It features a dial pump system, which allows you to choose the amount of product to apply depending on your skin's needs. My skin is very oily so I usually choose the 'small drop', but if my skin is feeling extremely dehydrated I choose the 'large drop' instead.

The serum is divided into two phases (hydric and lipidic) and should be mixed in the palm of your hands before applying it onto your face.

Here's the list of the 21 plant extracts and other key ingredients :

Turmeric Extract : Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Green Banana, Avocado, Myrothamnus Flabellifolia, Red Jania : Promotes skin firmness, visibly minimizes fine lines and wrinkles

Teasel, Organic Goji Berry, Beautyberry, Horse Chestnut : Boosts radiance, visibly energizes and tones.

Kiwi, Mary's Thistle : Enhances cellular nutrition, promotes absorption of nutrients.

Kalanchoe, Quinoa, Marsh Samphire, Cocoa Tree : Powers the skin's natural hydration, supports the skin's natural barrier function.

Mango Tree, Hyang Qi, Ginger Lily, Edelweiss : Protects cells from oxidative stress, fights free radicals.

Orthosiphon : Visibly refines the skin's texture, reduce the appearence of pores.

Oat sugars : Visibly firm and smooth the skin.

The formula has changed quite a bit. The good news, is that Clarins got rid of the mineral oil!

The bad news, is that they removed all these ingredients too : hyaluronic acid, katafray bark extract, perilla oil, hop extract, marshmallow extract, macadamia oil, green tea extract, maritime pine extract, organic rosehip oil, burdock root, thyme, cangzhu extract, oxydendron arboreum, arnica and bocoa extract.

Basically, only 5 of the original plant extracts are still in the formula. So if your skin loved the old version, there's no guarantee that you will love this one too because this is a completely different product!

I've already tried the Double Serum in 2013, and I loved it! I remember that my skin was beautiful, hydrated and supple. I finished the bottle a long time ago, so I was very excited to use it again!

I have to say that it was more than 4 years ago, so I can't remember if the consistency was different. Bu the new formula is quite rich and leaves a slightly oily film on the skin.

I've been testing the new formula over the last 3 weeks, and unfortunately I didn't notice the same results. My skin is hydrated, but that's about it. I even think that it broke my skin out, while the original formula had quite the opposite effect.

I had high hopes for the new Double Serum, but my skin preferred the old formula!
