Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Powder Foundation

Make Up For Ever added a new product to their range of foundations: the Pro Finish powder foundation! It's formulated with vegetal coated bio-mimetic pigments, which allows you to select the coverage of your foundation. It can be applied wet or dry, depending of the coverage you need.

You can use Pro Finish in two ways, dry for full coverage or with a wet sponge for light coverage. I tried both ways and I must say that even dry, the finish on the skin is very natural. However, I prefer to apply this foundation with a kabuki because I can apply a thin layer or more depending on my needs.

This foundation is light and looks very natural, it's like a second skin! It's matte but not extremely powdery or chalky, the finish is slightly satiny. I did not find it to be very mattifying, I still need a touch-up after 3-4 hours, but it's still better than liquid foundation or BB cream.

It has a weird scent, which doesn't stay on my skin, but don't be surprised by the odor when you'll use it for the first time!

I tested the shades #123 and #155, which are the equivalent of NC35/NC40. #155 is a little more pink than #123. I need a green/olive primer with this foundation to prevent it from being too pink, because I didn't find a shade that is olive enough for me. I also want to specify that the colors are a bit different than the HD liquid foundation. #123 is darker in the Pro Finish range, normally it should be equivalent to NC30! I highly recommend testing the product on your face before buying it, if you can.

This is before and after:

My complexion appears even and the red marks near my chin are less apparent, yet it doesn't look like I'm wearing a ton of makeup, and you can still see my beauty marks! I used a kabuki to apply the product, and normally I would add some Full Cover to cover some of the redness that is still visible, but for this review I wanted to show you the result using Pro Finish alone.

I would recommend this product to those with normal to oily skin, because I'm not sure that foundation powder is ideal for dry skin. This powder will probably become one of my must-haves for the summer, its light finish will be much more pleasant to use than any other foundation!

Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Powder Foundation retail for $42. It's available in 25 shades at Sephora and on www.makeupforever.com.

(I received this product in order to evaluate it and give my opinion, but rest assured that my comments are always honest and impartial.)

    1. Yes, I use it all the time to set my concealer, best powder ever to cover blemishes and redness! It will last all day and cover ANYTHING when you tap it over your concealer. I don't use it all over my face, but it's full coverage and might look cakey and less natural than the Pro Finish powder, it's more matte too. It depends of what you need!

  4. I haven't used powder foundation in a long time but gave this a try and absolutely love it! I have used it wet, but I prefer applying it dry over Garnier's Skin Renew BB cream for a flawless finish.

Check out my thoughts on it here: http://apopofcolour.com/2013/01/16/flawless-and-fabulous-make-up-for-ever-pro-finish-foundation/
