Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

So it seems like every makeup brand came out with a contour kit in the past few months, and while I think it's not really necessary to have more than one contour palette.. I couldn't resist and bought the new Kat Von D's Shade + Light contour palette to see if it's as good as it seems to be!

First row, left to right : Lucid, Lyric, Levitation
Second row, left to right : Sombre, Shadowplay, Subconscious

The highlight shades are perfect, so pigmented and brightening! I prefer the light pinky beige (Lucid) and light creamy yellow (Lyric) than Vanilla and Banana in the Anastasia Beverly Hill's Contour Kit because they are more opaque and pigmented! I also loved using the light peach shade (Levitation) when I got back from Mexico and was super tan, it was the perfect highlight shade for me.

However, you might not like them if you don't want any extra coverage, the highlight shades reminds me of a powder foundation. The texture is very soft and they have a satin finish, they are matte with a slightly glowy finish. I personally love the opacity because I have very dark circles under my eyes so it helps to cover them!

I'm wearing Lyric, Sombre and Subconscious :

Lashes are Blinking Beauté No. 8, lips are Colour Pop lippie stix and lippie pencil in BFF

The contour shades are also really great! Sombre looks weird when I swatch it on my hand (a greyish purple pink), but it looks great on my face. Compared to Illamasqua's cream pigment in Hollow, Sombre has more pink undertones on me and is slightly darker (and it's a powder instead of a cream). I also love the other shades, Shadowplay has golden undertones but isn't orangey (I use this one to warm up my complexion) and Subconscious is nice when I want a more dramatic contour.

I love this kit, the powders blends out so nicely and I know I will use all these shades (my skin tone change all the time, depending of the season). My only complain would be the fact that we can't purchase the shades individually, because I know that I will use up the highlight shades much faster than the contour shades. I still love my Anastasia Contour Kit (Java is my new favorite bronzer and Sand is such a pretty luminizer), but I just LOVE that extra coverage I get with the Kat Von D palette!

The Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette retail for $55 CAD for 20.4g.
