Laura Mercier Nights Out Eye Shadow Palette

As you may know already, Laura Mercier has launched their Holiday 2018 collection recently! There are many palettes and gift sets in this collection, but today I want to show you the Nights Out eyeshadow palette. This limited edition features ten shimmery and two matte shades, and the formula is supposed to be blendable and very pigmented!

The mattes (Bone and Neo Nude) are silky smooth and easy to blend! Neo Nude is a beautiful transition shade, while Bone is almost invisible on me (it's the same color as my skin). The shade Voodoo is super smooth and blends out beautifully too, the finish isn't completely matte but I can barely see the shimmers when I apply it on my lids.

As for the shimmery shades, Pink Pulse, Stardust, Sequin, Amber Glow and Gilded are buttery smooth, while the other eyeshadows (Night Violet, Plum Frost and Skyline) feel a bit drier to the touch. And Black Frost is surprisingly smooth, not chunky like most glitter eyeshadows tend to be.

However, I noticed that the shade Plum Frost crumble and pill up on my skin if I use a brush. This eyeshadow only look good if I apply it with my fingers.

Aside from Black Frost and Plum Frost, all the shades have great color payoff even without a primer. But the eyeshadows can look powdery if I don't use an eyeshadow primer, which is strange because the formula feels quite creamy to the touch.

It doesn't bother me too much because I always use a primer, but it may not be the best formula for aging eyes (the slightly powdery finish can accentuate fine lines)

Speaking of color payoff, I prefer to apply Sequin, Black Frost, Skyline and Night Violet with my fingers to intensify the color and the shimmery finish. Or even better, sometimes I apply them with a wet brush!

I love the Nights Out palette, the colors are beautiful! I wish this palette had one or two additional matte shades though, and the formula for the shade Plum Frost could be a lot better.
