Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation

Have you seen Laura Mercier's new foundation? Enriched with Silver Ear Mushroom and Vitamin C, the Flawless Lumière foundation is said to hydrate skin instantly and boost skin's luminosity over time. There are 30 shades to choose from, and the fragrance-free formula provides medium to full coverage and a luminous finish!

Some luminous foundations have a greasy and thick consistency, but not this one. It feels hydrating upon application, but it doesn't feel sticky or oily on the skin. The formula is weightless, without drying out my skin.

I would say that the finish is luminous but semi-matte at the same time. It's almost as if my skin is lit from within, without looking greasy! I noticed that this foundation contains micro shimmers but I don't see them on my face (thank god).

My skin is super oily though, so the finish is more dewy after an hour or two, but I really don't mind a bit of dewiness. I only need to use a blotting sheet after 3½ hours, when my skin is way too oily for my liking.

The coverage is medium and buildable to full. I can build up the coverage with a second layer if needed, but I find that it settles a bit too much into my fine lines if I do that. So I usually apply a thin layer and add a bit of corrector where I need more coverage.

I have a few dry skin patches on my forehead and cheeks, and a lot of foundations cling on these dry patches when I apply them with my fingers. I prefer to use a Beautyblender, but I find that this foundation looks quite nice even when I blend it with my fingers.

When I test new foundations, I always add a bit of powder on my T-zone (I love Givenchy's Prisme Libre Loose Powder and Laura Mercier's Translucent Loose Setting Powder) and set everything with a makeup setting spray (such as Skindinavia's Bridal Makeup Finishing Spray). With these two additional products, this foundation lasts 8 hours on me.

I tried it with 4 different primers too, and I haven't noticed any incompatibility.

I had great results with Laura Mercier's Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze, but I would only recommend this combo if your skin is normal to dry. My skin is very oily and it made the foundation look more dewy than I would like. I prefer to use this primer with a matte foundation.

If your skin is super oily, I recommend the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer! It plays well with the Flawless Lumière foundation (it doesn't make it look cakey or patchy) and has great mattifying properties.

The bareMinerals Combo Control Milky Face Primer helps control oil too, but the formula is a bit hydrating as well. It's a great primer for oily and dehydrated skin!

And I love the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer, it hydrates my skin without being oily.

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Foundation Review

Overall, this foundation was a nice surprise! I love luminous foundations but my skin is super oily, so I prefer when the formula isn't too rich or greasy.

This one is perfect for my skin type, it has a beautiful radiant finish and feels really light on the skin. And if your skin is normal to dry, you can always use a moisturizing primer or add a drop (or two) of facial oil on your skin before applying the foundation!

I wish it lasted longer on me, but 8 hours is pretty good for a foundation with a radiant finish!

  1. Oooh this foundation sounds like a perfect option for me! I love a good radiant foundation!

    1. It's not super hydrating (I think your skin is dry?), but you can adjust it to your skin type with a moisturizer or face oil!

  2. Ooooh - this sounds great for my skin type too! It's so hard to find a luminous foundation that works for oily skin - I'm adding this to my to-try list!

    1. Yes exactly, they tend to be heavy or oily! Let me know if you try it!

  3. Do you believe I don’t own a single Laura mercier foundation! I would like to test this one out and I have seen it at Sephora and was curious !

    1. Whhhhhaaat! You need to at least try one product asap! lol

  4. Oh I love the idea of this type of foundation. I have such dry skin I am sure it will be great on it. It is nice to know it isn't greasy or oily.

    1. If your skin is dry then I would recommend to use a moisturizing primer with it, as the formula isn't super hydrating.

  5. Thanks for great review
LOVE your best swatches & shade recommendations; so super helpful when ordering online!!
Found your beautiful blog because of FAB Avocado Concieler.
Do you think it would work as corrector? Me too need full coverage for my under eyes and I wish FAB would be full coverage like my current fave CT Magic Concieler! (Which is probs pretty similar formula, but so over priced for 4ml :(
Love FAB Triple Eye Remedy Corrector, but wondering if this new one would be even better..?

    1. Hi!!

You're welcome! Thanks for your comment, you are too kind!

Which product are you talking about? I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly.
