Last year I reviewed Rodial's Diamond Concealer, but did you know that the brand also came out with a Diamond Foundation recently? Infused with real diamond powder and blurring actives, this lightweight foundation provides medium to full coverage and a natural radiant finish.

Those of you who love a super full coverage foundation will be more than pleased with this one! The coverage is very impressive!
In fact, it's easy to apply too much product because the formula is extremely pigmented. I usually only use one pump of foundation and blend it with a damp Beautyblender (this gives me medium to full coverage). I only add more foundation with a very small brush where more coverage is needed.
I recommend to swipe the Beautyblender across your skin for medium coverage, or bounce it on your skin if you prefer full coverage.
Sometimes I mix a very small amount (less than a pump) with my moisturizer and it gives me sheer to medium coverage. When I use it this way, I can apply it with my fingers and it blends out beautifully!
The finish is semi-matte with a subtle glow, it doesn't look dewy at all but because my skin is super oily it looks more luminous after an hour.
It lasts all day on me without separating, I can easily wear it for more than 12 hours and I only need to use two blotting sheets during the day!
This foundation sets on the skin and doesn't feel sticky or greasy, but I always add a bit of powder on my t-zone because my skin is too oily to skip this step.
I would say that the Diamond Foundation would work best for combination to oily skin types. I think it would be too matte for dry skin. My skin is oily but dehydrated and I need to hydrate it properly when I use this foundation, otherwise it can feel a bit drying.
Also, I prefer to apply it over a luminous or hydrating primer. I had great results with NARS' Radiance Primer (it makes the foundation look more dewy) and Make Up For Ever's Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer (this one hydrates my skin without changing the finish too much). I like it with Benefit's The POREfessional Pearl Primer too!
Now the sad part is that the shade range seems to focus mainly on medium to tan skin tones (and there are a few dark shades). The lightest shade is too dark for my pale winter skin!
I can only use the shade 10 when I'm tan, but it's a bit too pink for me. Sadly, the other 'light' shade with yellow undertones (20) is too dark.
Aside from that, I love this foundation! The coverage is insane and if I want something a bit more sheer, I
can mix it with my favorite serum or cream. I just love how versatile the
formula is, and the glowy semi-matte finish is beautiful. Also, it
lasts all day on my oily skin!
10 is darker than NW25 and has peachy pink undertones.

30 is slightly darker than NC40 and has golden peach undertones.

Looks like a gorgeous foundation but sad to hear of the poor shade range!!
ReplyDeleteThey should add at least a lighter shade than 10, none of these shades are suitable for fair and light skin tones!
DeleteI always love Rodial's approach with out-there ingredients - such fun branding! This sounds really good for my skin, but I hope they expand that range!
ReplyDeleteMe too, love Rodial!!
DeleteI am over 50 and this is the greatest foundation I have ever tried. It just merges with your skin beautifully, weightless, incredible coverage, no pores, wrinkles diminished, amazing, the best I had ever tried, the only minus the colour range is limitzd, the shades are not right for my neutral olive skin undertones...yet I love it so much that I mix the 2 shades I have of this awesome foundation with the hope to get my skin colour. As the author says this foundation is SO pigmented a 1/4of a grain of rice will do the trick.
ReplyDeleteYay I'm glad you love it!
