The Maybelline Expert Wear eyeshadows blends well, doesn't apply patchy and are decently pigmented (depending of the shade). However, you'll need to apply them over a good eyeshadow primer because they don't stick well on the skin and the color disappear when you blend them. They are slightly more chalky than I would like, so when I tested them for the first time without a primer, I have to admit that I wasn't impressed. But I changed my mind when I tried them again with a good primer! (You can also use a cream eyeshadow)
With a primer, they are much more pigmented and the shimmery eyeshadows are more sparkly. Used that way, there was only the Lavender Smoked quad that I didn't like. Even with the primer, the shades are too sheer (for me) and just seemed to swipe away easily. For the swatches below, I applied all the eyeshadows over my trusty Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer, so you can see the best results you can get.
Natural Smokes
Lavender Smokes
Blue Blazes
Seashell
I really like the Natural Smokes quad (with a primer), which is an awesome kit to travel with because it contains everything you need to do a smokey eye, highlight the brow bone and do your brows too (if you are a brunette). I loved Seashell too, I like to wear it all over the lids or on the inner corners of the eyes. I do wish that they would stick better on the skin, but it's not a problem with a good primer. There is only Lavender Smokes that I didn't like, no matter how I applied the eyeshadows.
The Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow retail for $4.99 CDN (mono), $5.99 CDN (duo), $8.99 CDN (trio and quad).
