Top 5 : Dry Texturizing Sprays

If there's one product that is now a staple in my hair care routine, it's dry sprays! This hair styling product is an hybrid between dry shampoo and hairspray, not even close to beach sprays which only add texture and accentuate waves. The powdery formula add volume and texture while absorbing excess oils, it's the perfect product for fine hair! Also, this will be your hair's new best friend if you like voluminous updos!

Please note that these aren't in order of preference.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish Dry Spray ($37 CAD for 115g/150ml)
Ahhhh, my first dry spray! While the other products in this Top 5 mainly use calcium carbonate and disteardimonium hectorite (clay mineral) as the key ingredients, this one contain zeolite (clay) and silk powder instead. It's not greasy, sticky, crunchy or stiff. All you get is soft, touchable hair with more volume and body! It doesn't gives you strong hold though so it's great to add texture and volume but it doesn't lift roots particularly well compared to the other sprays. If you are looking for a dry spray that won't leave any residue in your hair and that can be used as a dry shampoo, then you should try this one!

Ingredients : Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, Dimethyl Ether, Alcohol Denat., Vp/Va Copolymer, Zeolite, Silk Powder, Sunflower Seed Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Glycerin, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Phenethyl Benzoate, PVP, Fragrance, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene.

Shu Uemura Texture Wave Dry Workable Spray ($42 CAD for 193g)
Texture Wave is the one you should try if you are looking for a spray that can do a little bit of everything! It has enough hold to lift the roots but it's less stiff than the Kérastase or L'Oréal Professionnel sprays so you can also spray it on the lengths to add texture and volume. It helps to absorb excess oils too, but less than the Bumble and Bumble spray.

Ingredients :  Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, Alcohol Denat., Butane, Calcium Carbonate, Polyvinylcaprolactam, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Parfum, Dimethiconol, Limonene, Gossypium Herbaceum Oil / Cotton Seed oil, Alpha-Isomethic Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Citral.

L'Oréal Paris #TXT Textures Volume Supersizing Spray ($7.99 CAD for 200ml)
If you are trying dry sprays for the first time, you might want to play with this one first! It's quite good actually, I love the thickness and volume it provides. In fact it's pretty much like the Shu Uemura spray but my hair feel a tad more dry and crunchy with this one so I don't like it as much, though for the price you can't go wrong!

Ingredients : Isobutane, Alcohol Denat., Calcium Carbonate, Polyvinylcaprolactam, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Limonene, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Isoeugenol, Alpha-Isomethic Ionone, Geraniol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Parfum.

Kérastase V.I.P. Volume in Powder Backcomb Effect Spray ($38 CAD for 193g)
Oh how I love this one, it's my favorite! The scent, the volumizing effect... I love everything about it! It gives a strong hold so it really helps to lift the roots of my hair, but it doesn't feel sticky or too crunchy either. The fruity scent is to die for, everytime I use it my boyfriend ask me if I'm wearing a new perfume! Pricey, but so worth it!

Ingredients : Hydrofluorocarbon 152A, Alcohol Denat., Butane, Calcium Carbonate, Polyvinylcaprolactam, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Parfum/Fragrance, Dimethiconol, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Alpha-Isomethic Ionone.

L'Oréal Professionnel Crêpage de Chignon ($25.50 CAD for 200ml)
Last but not least, Crêpage de Chignon is a great alternative to the Kérastase spray if you can't afford it, but still want more volume and hold than with all the other sprays. It makes my hair look fuller and bigger! The reason why I don't like it as much as the Kérastase spray is because the scent isn't as good (it doesn't smell bad though) and it gives less volume at the roots, but I still think it's a good product! It's great to add texture and thickness for a messy bun as well!

Ingredients : Isobutane, Alcohol Denat., Calcium Carbonate, Polyvinylcaprolactam, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Linalool, Limonene, Benzyl Salicylate, Benzyl Alcohol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citral, Parfum/Fragrance.
