Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light

I usually read reviews before I buy a new product, but when I saw the new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzers, I couldn't wait any longer! Unfortunately, this impulse purchase didn't live up to my expectations. If you intended to buy it during the Sephora sale, I highly suggest that you read this review before you decide to spend your hard earned money on this powder!

The new Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer is available in 2 shades : Luminous Bronze Light and Radiant Bronze Light. I chose Radiant Bronze Light (which is the darkest shade) because I pretty much wear self tanner all the time now and some bronzers don't show up on me. It's definitely pigmented enough to show up on my medium skin tone (NC35), but I really don't like the color. It looks like a very cool toned taupe in the pan, but on my skin it's much more orangey!

This bronzing powder looks quite sparkly in the pan but on the skin it's more like a sheen with a bit of shimmers. I usually prefer bronzing powders with a matte or glowy finish, this one is a tad more shimmery than I would like but it's not glittery.

Here's a few comparisons with a few shimmery bronzing powders :

NARS Laguna is a golden brown, a lot less orangey and the shimmery finish is more subtle. Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo in #01 is a tad lighter, more orangey and less shimmery. Too Faced Endless Summer is a neutral brown with a slightly shimmery finish, a lot less peachy. Bare Minerals The Skinny Dip is a pinky beige with a hint of peach and the finish is glowy.

I don't like the color, way too orange for me! It's okay as a blush, but I can easily look like a Oompa Loompa if I apply too much. I love Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and blushes, but I'm so disappointed by this bronzer.

  1. I bought the Luminous version as I am very fair skinned. It takes a light hand or you can indeed turn orange! :P

    1. I have a bunch of bronzers that are much better than this one, I will return this one if I can go to a Sephora store soon.

  2. Ohh, too bad it didn't work for you. I have read so many conflicting reviews already that I am definitely going to wait till I see it in person to decide if I want to buy it or not.

    1. I just don't get it, why so orange? It's so pretty in the pan, but the color is very different on the skin! Oh and it's even more orangey on my face than on my arm where I did the swatches, I think it oxidise badly on oily skin.
