St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower Tanning Lotion Golden Glow Medium (New shade!)

Did you know St. Tropez's Gradual Tan In Shower Tanning Lotion is now available in 2 shades, Light and Medium? I really like the idea behind this product, but the original formula was too subtle for my liking so I was very excited to try this new darker shade!

So what's the difference between the original and the Medium shade, you may ask? Aside from the fact that the medium shade is darker (obviously), it has 2 new ingredients ; Melanin enhancers to give a deeper golden glow and jojoba esters which increase skin hydration and helps the product sink better into the outer layers of the skin.

The application method is easy and pretty much foolproof : Apply the lotion on clean and wet skin, wash the palms of your hands, wait 3 minutes and then you can rinse it off and pat dry (don't rub). Use on three consecutive days for best results.

Here's the result after 3 applications (on my right arm) :

The price is a little steep as you need to apply it a few times and repeat the process every week, but there are many advantages of using this product instead of your typical self-tanner! It doesn't leave an oily or sticky residue on the skin, you can get dressed immediately after! Also, it doesn't stain sheets or clothes. It has a very faint fake-tan smell compared to the Light shade (which doesn't have any self tanner smell) but it's barely noticeable.

The tan is even and streak-free, even on my hands and feets! As you can see in this photo, I don't have any weird tan lines on my wrist. It last up to 3-4 days on me and fades evenly without looking patchy.

That being said, this product isn't for you if you want a deep and rich tan. The Medium shade is definitely darker than the Light shade but if you are looking for a dark self tanner, I still think that you would prefer the St. Tropez Express Bronzing Mousse.

  2. Love this! Great read. I'm a St. Tropez gal through and through. I find its the only brand that doesn't come out splotchy or streaky. I'll have to try this out.

  3. I bought this in the regular, light shade last year, it did absolutely nothing on my skin and I was so disappointed. Nice to see that they came out with a medium shade, maybe this would be darker, I am going to stick to my St.Tropez Dark tanning mousse, I don't mind waiting overnight if the colour is good.

    1. Can't go wrong with the bronzing mousse! The In Shower Tanning Lotion is great for beginners, but only if you want a subtle tan.
