NARS x Man Ray Love Game Eyeshadow Palette

As you may know already, NARS has launched their Holiday 2017 collection recently! There's a lot of items in the NARS x Man Ray collection, but today I want to show you the Love Game eyeshadow palette. Inspired by Ady Idelin (Man Ray's muse), this limited edition contains a beautiful selection of neutral and jewel-toned shades.

In general, the formula is great and most of the shades have excellent color payoff!

Some of the matte shades (Dominant, Your Move) feel a little dry to the touch, but it doesn't affect the quality of the eyeshadows. They still blend out nicely and are great transition shades!

The other two matte colors are silkier, but Submissive is a bit difficult to blend out and is prone to looking patchy. So be careful with this one and always apply a transition shade first!

There's two beautiful metallic shades in this palette too : Tryst and Dirty Talk. The formula is incredibly smooth and they adhere well to the skin, even without a primer. I like to wear them on the inner corner of my eyes!

The other 6 shades have a shimmery or luminous finish, but none of them contain chunky glitters! They are nicely pigmented, but I have to say that the blue shade (Long Game) was a bit disappointing. You will need to apply it over an eyeshadow primer, otherwise it will be very sheer and won't adhere well to the skin. But even with a good primer, this isn't the best blue eyeshadow I've tested out from NARS.

Compared to the NARSissist Loaded eyeshadow palette, three of the shades are almost identical : Lady Killer, Hard To Get and Play Me (Windsor, Alnwick and Beaumaris in the Loaded palette). I personally don't mind because I love all three shades (I loooove Play Me) but it might be something to keep in mind if you already own the Loaded Palette. All the other colors are completely different though!

I love how they included a few neutral and matte shades, in addition to the rich jewel-toned colors. Sometimes I just don't know how to pair the colors when I try a new eyeshadow palette, but I found it easy to create many different looks with this one!

Would I recommend it? Yes, yes, yes!

  5. That's an amazing palette! I wouldn't really mind that the blue shade doesn't perform well. I don't really reach for that type of colour anyway. The rest of the shade selection is perfect for me.

    Thanks for sharing!
