The Chandelight Glow Highlighters are supposed to apply like a creamy gel and set to a powder finish, but I don't find that to be true. They are very creamy, but they never fully dry down. In fact, they feel quite oily to the touch! They are easy to blend though, which is always a good thing for a cream highlighter or blush.
The colors are sheer but buildable. I would say that these hues would look best on fair to medium skin tones, but if your skin is very pale the shades Luminous Coral and Luminous Pink will be used more like blushes than highlighters. By the way, I can wear the color Luminous Golden even when my skin is at its palest (this gold isn't too dark), and it looks gorgeous on tan skin too.
Oh and the staying power is pretty good, these cream highlighters last about 9 hours on me.
Left to right : Luminous Golden, Luminous Coral and Luminous Pink.
With that being said, I tried this trio with 4 different foundations and it didn't play well with all of them. The formula is fussy, especially if I apply it over a matte foundation.
When I tried it with two of my favorites matte liquid foundations (BareMinerals BarePro and NYX Can't Stop Won't Stop), the cream lifted my foundation off and made it look patchy on my cheeks.
I had much better results with Bourjois' Healthy Mix and L'Oréal's Infallible Pro-Glow foundations, it seems to work better with hydrating or luminous foundations.
I love the colors and the soft luminous finish, but I don't like how finicky the formula is.
I think you would love this bareMinerals palette if you only use hydrating or dewy foundations, but more often than not I use a matte foundation so for me it's a pass.

The colors look so pretty it's a shame it is fussy with less creamy/dewy products. I used to love this brand but haven't used much of their stuff in the past few years because I found they just don't play nice with other products.
ReplyDeleteAhhh so I'm not crazy then!
