I have 4 shades to show you today, the two lightest and the two darkest :
Swatches on fair skin tone (NC10)
50 Rose Ivory is a bit lighter than NW15. It has pink undertones.
51 Light Vanilla is slightly lighter than N15. It has neutral, slightly warm undertones.
55 Dark Beige is similar to N30. It has neutral, slightly cool undertones.
56 Light Bronze is slightly darker than N30. It has neutral undertones.
Please note that they have two darker shades sold in Europe only : 57 Bronze and 58 Caramel.
My skin is very pale at the moment and I couldn't find my perfect match. 50 Rose Ivory is too pink, while 51 is a bit too dark! I would say that my skin is equivalent to NC10 right now, with yellow-olive undertones.
It's very difficult to find my perfect shade when I'm pale like that. That being said, I can wear the shade 51 if I use a subtle self-tanner, which gives just enough color to be able to find a foundation that matches me.
I've never tried the original Healthy Mix foundation, so I can't compare it with the new formula. However, I can tell you that the new Healthy Mix foundation is less dewy than the Healthy Mix Serum, and it offers a bit more coverage. Both foundations have the same fruity scent, I love it!
This is a light coverage foundation, buildable to medium. It's beautiful on the skin! I can apply a second layer if needed, and it doesn't look cakey. I like to apply it with my fingers, like I do with most luminous foundations.
If your skin is oily, I would suggest to use a mattifying primer with it, and set it with a light dusting of loose powder. Also, I find that if I wait too long to set it, it begins to settle into my fine lines after a few minutes.
My skin was shiny by the 3 hours mark (with a primer and loose powder), but it wasn't extremely oily either. I used a blotting sheet after 4 hours because at this point, my skin was too oily. But the foundation was beautiful!
By the 8 hours mark though, the coverage was less opaque. It's almost as if my skin drank some of the foundation so my imperfections weren't hidden completely anymore. I even wore it once for a total of 11 hours, and the foundation was a bit patchy around my mouth and on my nose.
So it's not the 16 hours that was promised and I definitely need to use 2-3 blotting sheets throughout the day, but for a luminous foundation and considering the fact that my skin is an oily mess, I think 8 hours is pretty good!
The Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation retails for $35 CAD for 30ml.
(I received these products in order to evaluate them and give my opinion, but rest assured that my comments are always honest and impartial.)
I love the original Healthy Mix foundation. I'll have to try the new formula.
