BareMinerals Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation

BareMinerals is well-known for its loose powder foundation, but did you know that the brand launched a new powder foundation that actually helps prevent and treat blemishes? Enriched with salicylic acid, oat protein, zinc, sulfur and phytosphingosine, the Blemish Rescue Skin-Clearing Loose Powder Foundation soothes and nourishes the skin while purifying pores and absorbing excess oil.

The Blemish Rescue foundation has a matte finish and provides sheer to medium coverage. I find that this foundation looks best if I apply it on moisturized skin, otherwise it clings onto dry patches a bit too much (like most powder foundations).

But even if I hydrate my skin properly, I always set powder foundations with a light mist of makeup setting spray too, just to make all the dry skin disappear.

Also, I get more coverage if I moisturize my skin properly. When I apply it on bare skin, the coverage is quite sheer. But when I use an hydrating primer or a moisturizer prior to putting on the foundation, the coverage is medium and slightly buildable.

By the way, my skin is very oily but sensitive and extremely dehydrated, I always have dry patches on my forehead and cheeks even if I moisturize my skin every morning and night.

This foundation stays matte for about 3 hours on me, and lasts more than 10 hours without separating or losing coverage!

I love the idea behind this product, my acne-prone skin reacts really well to salicylic acid! I use a salicylic acid-based cleanser every night (I alternate with a gentle cleanser in the morning), and it helps prevent and treat breakouts.

However, I think my skin is too sensitive for this foundation because I noticed that my skin was more dehydrated than usual after using this product for a few days in a row. My guess is that the sulfur is too drying for me, because I usually don't have a problem with salicylic acid. I think the Blemish Rescue foundation would be better for me in the summer!

    1. I wish I could wear it right now (my skin is way too sensitive in the winter), but I'm excited to try it again this summer.
