NARS Tinted Glow Boosters

Earlier this year, NARS came out with a new customizable complexion enhancer! Available in 4 shades, the Tinted Glow Booster can be worn alone for a lit-from-within glow, under foundation to extend the wear of makeup, or as a subtle highlighter on the highpoints of the face.

This product is pigmented but very sheer, so I think there is a color for everyone even if the shade range is small. I currently use the shade Kalvoya, and can probably use the same color when I'm tan if I use it as a primer.

To be honest, I didn't like it by itself or over my foundation. As an highlighter, it didn't play well with my foundation. I tried to apply it with my Beautyblender and my fingertips, but it lifts off my foundation every single time.

I'm surprised it didn't work for me because I usually love NARS' liquid highlighters (the Hot Sand Illuminator is worth every penny!).

When I wore it alone, the coverage was almost non-existent and while it doesn't contain large chunks of glitter, the sparkles were a bit too noticeable for me.

I included a before/after but as you can see, it barely covers my imperfections. I know some of you would love a sheer product like this one, it's simply not what I'm looking for in a foundation.

With that being said, it's a great primer! The formula has a creamy gel consistency, it feels hydrating on the skin (thanks to NARS' exclusive Jojoba Hydraglow Complex) and slightly sticky, but not too heavy.

I only use one pump and it's enough for my oily and dehydrated skin. I love the fact that this product is fragrance-free and doesn't exacerbate my acne and eczema.

It adds such a beautiful luminous glow to the skin, without looking overly greasy. The shimmers are less noticeable when I apply foundation over it, it doesn't look sparkly at all.

My complexion is radiant, it's almost as if my skin is lit from within. And I noticed that my foundation lasts longer than usual!

  1. hmmm seems pricey for something that I wouldn't really notice on my skin but if it's as good of a primer as you say it is, I will have to check it out!!

  3. Not really. It’s sheer. You can use to mix with foundation or moisturizer for a glow. Use it on top of foundation for glowy cheeks etc or mix in with shape tape to make it more emollient and forgiving.

  4. Ooh - I love a sheer wash on no makeup days, and like that this would be a good primer too! I like to try and mix these with foundations for a lighter feel in the Spring and Summer!
