It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte

Did you know It Cosmetics came out with a matte version of their Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream? This oil-free foundation offers full coverage, reduces shine and blurs pores. In addition, it contains a plethora of skin-loving ingredients, such as charcoal, clays, peptides, hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen!

I love the original CC Cream, but I only use it in the winter when my skin is very dehydrated and sensitive because the formula can be too rich for my oily skin.

Both CC Creams provide similar coverage, but the original formula is very hydrating and has a dewy finish, while the new matte version has a semi-matte finish, helps blur pores, feels less greasy on the skin and controls oil much better.

The original Your Skin But Better CC Cream provides an SPF of 50 and the matte formula offers an SPF of 40.

The consistency is quite thick but it's not too heavy on the skin and it doesn't dry too fast. I like to apply it with a damp Beautyblender, but it looks great if I apply it with my fingers too. It doesn't emphasize dry patches as much as other matte foundations!

I would say that the coverage is medium, but buildable to full. If you prefer sheer coverage, you can sheer it down with a damp Beauty Blender too.

I find that this foundation looks best if I apply a thin layer (and add concealer where I need more coverage), as it can look caked-on if I apply a second layer to achieve full coverage. Also, it settles into my fine lines if I apply too much product.

I tried this foundation with two different primers (this Clarins primer, and this one), but I had the best results when I applied it on bare skin. It doesn't dry out my skin so I can skip my moisturizer, and it controls oil so I don't really need a mattifying primer.

I do set it with some loose powder (I currently use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder) and my Urban Decay De-Slick makeup setting spray.

This foundation last 10 hours on me and keeps my skin matte for about 3 hours. It controls oil better than the Cover Fx Power Play Foundation and the Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Foundation, but the formula is less mattifying than Revlon's Colorstay Full Cover Foundation and bareMinerals' BarePro Liquid Foundation.

By the way, the shades in the Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Matte CC+ Cream are not equivalent to the ones in the original Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream.

I usually use the shade Fair in the original formula but as you can see on the picture below, the color Fair is much darker in the matte version. So sadly for me, I can only use the matte CC+ Cream when I'm tan. That's pretty much the only bad thing I can say about this product though!
