When I tried the Full Cover foundation for the first time, I wasn't sure how it was going to work with my skin type because the texture is very thick and feels greasy. But much to my surprise, it works really well with my oily skin!
I wore it a few times for more more than 12 hours, it keeps my oils at bay for about 4 hours and never separate on me. And the weather is particularly hot and humid these days, so I'm very impressed!
I like to set it with a bit of loose powder though, but it doesn't need to be a matte powder as the foundation is already very mattifying. I prefer to use a light powder, like the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder. All I want to do is set the foundation to prevent separation and the silica based powders are perfect for that.
If your skin is very oily, I recommend to apply more powder on your nose (especially on the sides, where the skin is usually more oily), otherwise the foundation can separate!
The Colorstay Full Cover foundation starts off with a slightly dewy finish and takes a few minutes to turn into a semi-matte finish.
By the way, this foundation is fragrance free! It has a plastic smell but it doesn't linger on the skin.
This is NOT a full coverage foundation though. It provides medium coverage that is slightly buildable. It looks beautiful on the skin, especially if I apply it with a Beautyblender. It doesn't accentuate my dry patches either.
Revlon Colorstay Full Cover Foundation in 150 Buff (without primer or powder)
This foundation has a built in primer (so a primer is not needed!) but I tried it with two different primers just to see how it would perform. I had great results with the Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer, it made my skin look very matte (for up to 5 hours!), although I wouldn't recommend this combo unless your skin is extremely oily.
I tried it with the Clarins SOS Primer in 01 Rose too, and the luminous finish was very pretty but unfortunately my skin was very shiny by the 2 hours mark.
Now the sad part is that the shade range isn't that great, I only have 12 of the shades (there are 16 shades in total) but some of the colors are way too similar!
I can barely tell the difference between the colors 200, 210, 220 and 240. There's a small variation in the undertones, but the difference is minimal.
I hope Revlon will extend the shade range because the formula is awesome for those of us with oily skin!

Oh this looks nice. I just got a tube to try and need to use it right away. I really love the traditional colour stay foundation. It looks really good on you
ReplyDeleteI hope you love it too!
Deletebut nobody likes it because it does not cover as promised apart it takes a long time to dry and today we can not lose more than 10minutes makeup in the tests of 4 makeup fanatics NOT like and other girls commented that it does NOT cover as promised not to buy it again
ReplyDeleteI personally love it and I know other bloggers who loved it too! You are right it doesn't provide full coverage (I said it in my review), but I love it because it's such a good foundation for oily skin.
DeleteIf you need more coverage, I think you would love the original Revlon Colorstay foundation for combination/oily skin! :)
Same here!! I have both but I like this way better than the Revlon Colorstay due to the oily skin that I unfortunately possess. Colorstay is abit too wet for me, like 1 pump seems too much and the blending takes awhile. At least for Full Cover, I just squeeze a pea sized amount & dap it on like a concealer the important areas under the eyes, nose, chin, forehead & whenever I have visible blemishes. The oil control is great!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you love it!!
Deletewhere can i buy the colorstay here in hongkong
ReplyDeleteI don't know, sorry!
