Make Up For Ever Reboot Active Care-In-Foundation

Have you heard? Make Up For Ever came out with a new skincare-infused liquid foundation! Formulated with ginseng, camellia japonica and mondo grass, the Reboot foundation helps strengthen the skin's protective barrier, stimulates collagen production and restores skin's natural glow. In addition, this foundation is said to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase hydration and provide light-to-medium coverage with a satin finish.

Formula-wise, the Reboot foundation has a thin liquid consistency. It doesn't feel completely weightless on the skin, as it has that moisturizing feel to it, but it's not too heavy or thick. It's a bit sticky to the touch, although not oily.

My skin is oily but dehydrated, so the hydrating formula works for me but it might be too rich for very oily skin types.

I would say that the coverage is light to medium, but buildable to medium. It depends on how I apply it! The coverage is sheerer with a Beautyblender, and I get more coverage with a brush. Speaking of which, I tried their new #112 Foundation Brush and loved it! It blends the foundation seamlessly, it doesn't look streaky, patchy or cakey. The foundation doesn't sink into the bristles, so it's very easy to clean and I waste less product.

Oh and the finish is luminous, slightly dewy. It always depend on your skincare routine, it will be dewier if you tend to use heavy creams or facial oils. But on bare skin, that's how I would describe the finish.

I tried it with 4 different primers and they all played well with this foundation. If your skin is oily, I recommend Make Up For Ever's Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. This product mattifies the skin and helps control oil throughout the day, it works really well with this particular foundation!

The Reboot foundation is already luminous but if you want to amp up the dewiness, you will love these 3 primers; NARS' Radiance Primer, Laura Mercier's new Pure Canvas Hydrating Primer and NARS' new Tinted Glow Boosters.

This isn't a very long-lasting foundation on me, but to be fair it's rarely the case with hydrating and luminous foundations. It lasts 9-10 hours on my oily skin, if I set it with a bit of loose powder and my makeup setting spray.

Surprisingly though, it doesn't look extremely oily on me. The finish isn't matte (and it's not supposed to be), but I don't feel the need to use many blotting sheets throughout the day.

I love this foundation, the finish is beautiful on the skin and I love the fact that the formula is very hydrating! My only complaint is that this foundation is strongly scented, which can be a problem for my eczema-prone skin, especially during winter.
