Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes in 279 Denim & 689 Mitzah

A few weeks ago, Dior launched their new 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes! Available in 14 shades, these eyeshadows are formulated with pine oil and aloe vera to soften the lids while delivering rich and radiant color.

Let's start off with my favorite palette, 689 Mitzah!

This palette contains a rosy copper with a shimmery finish, a sparkly golden peach, a burgundy purple with a luminous finish, a shimmery taupe brown and a dark cool toned brown with a matte finish.

The formula is smooth and nicely pigmented, even without a primer! All the shades look great on the skin, the matte doesn't look patchy at all (which is a nice surprise!). The staying power is great as well, although I always use an eyeshadow primer.

At first I was disappointed with the golden peach (second eyeshadow); It's a beautiful shade but the color payoff isn't that great. That being said, it looks a-ma-zing when I apply it with a damp brush! (trust me, try it!)

I wish it included a transition shade (like a matte peach or a light brown), but I really love this palette!

The other eyeshadow palette (279 Denim) features a luminous sky blue, a frosty silvery blue, a golden beige with a shimmery finish, a shimmery teal blue and a navy blue with a luminous finish. 

I very rarely wear blue eyeshadow so this palette isn't my cup of tea to begin with. The silvery blue and the teal blue are gorgeous, but I know that I won't use them often.

As for the quality of the eyeshadows, they are very soft to the touch and aren't too powdery. The lightest blue is a bit sheer for my liking, but the other 4 shades have great color payoff! I prefer to apply them with my fingers (or a damp brush!) to intensify the color, though.

All in all, not my favorite color selection but it might be worth a try if you love blue eyeshadows!
