Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Mat Lipsticks (Part 1 : Nudes, Reds & Berries)

As you may know already, Make Up For Ever has launched their new Rouge Artist lipsticks range recently! Available in 45 shades, the range is divided in 2 finishes ; Mat and Creme. I've been lucky enough to get sent all the shades and I will review all of them as soon as possible, but let's start with half of the matte shades!

The Artist Rouge Mat Lipsticks have a creamy consistency, kinda similar to MAC Matte lipsticks. They don't tug on the skin, they glide effortlessly accross the lips! The finish is matte, less than a liquid lipstick but more matte than MAC Matte lipsticks and Urban Decay Comfort Matte lipsticks.

These lipsticks are surprisingly comfortable as well, but they can feel a bit drying as the day progresses. The light shades tend to feel drying by the 4 hours mark while the medium and dark shades are comfortable on the lips during a longer period of time (5-6 hours). I noticed a little bit of feathering with the deeper shades (M500 and M501) by the 5 hours mark, but it wasn't very noticeable.

They are lightly scented, I don't know how to describe the scent (maybe a bit floral?) but the fragrance is definitely less strong that their Rouge Artist Natural & Intense lipsticks.

The Artist Rouge Mat lipsticks are awesome! That being said, I didn't like all the shades. The light colors (M100 and M200) look chalky and cakey on me, the formula cracks and settles into fine lines. Not a good look! I didn't have this problem with the other shades though.

My favorites? M102 and M501!!
